ABSTRACT
SUPA, School of Physics and Astronomy, University of St Andrews, Scotland
In this lecture I describe the observational and transit-detection strategies adopted by current wide-field surveys aimed at discovering bright transiting gas-giant planets using arrays of small cameras with apertures of order 11 cm. The advantage of using such small instruments is that their wide sky coverage permits discovery of relatively bright systems amenable to detailed follow-up studies.
