ABSTRACT
Before we can discuss some of the heavier topics of the book, we must first (re-) establish a knowledge of the core principles, building blocks, and essential elements of the dynamic capacity management concepts. One of the essential elements to an understanding of dynamic systems is variability. This chapter is devoted to an overview of the concepts, analysis, and impacts of variability within the complex systems in which we work.
