ABSTRACT
The concept of carrier-envelope (CE) phase is introduced in Chapter 1. For the generation of attosecond pulse trains, the CE phase of the driving lasers does not need to be stabilized. However, many gating schemes for the generation of single isolated attosecond pulses require the stabilization of CE phase, which is discussed in detail in Chapter 8.
