Inthemedicalfield,thecleaningandsetupfunctionsoftheoperatingroomarecommonlyreferredto asaturnover.Ÿecleaningandsetupfunctionsofahospitalbedand/orroom,however,aremostcommonlyreferredtoasaturnaround.(Ahospitalbedturnoverisusuallyassociatedwithabroaderhospital performancemeasurementthatincorporatestheaveragenumberofpatientseachhospitalbedcontains inagiventimeperiod(Osborn2007).)Ÿoughtheterminologymaybedifferent,bothturnaroundsand turnovershavebeencitedaskeyfactorsinpatientthroughputandbedcapacityandaresubsequently important to hospital operations.
