ABSTRACT
For over 40 years, schools of nursing have developed nurse-managed clinics for the purpose of integratingtheirdiscovery,learning,andengagementmission.Mostearlymodelsweregrant-supportedand o·endidnotsurvivebeyondthe3to5yearsoffoundation,state,orfederalgrantsupport.Overthepast decade,withagrowingemphasisonsystemsapproaches,sustainability,businessmodels,electronic healthrecords,developmentofnursingcentercoalitions/datawarehouses,fewerbarrierstonursepractitionerpractice,andhealthcarereform,nurse-managedclinicsareincreasinglyviewedasanimportant solutiontothehealthcarecrisis.Ÿemodelhasevolvedfromasinglesourcesupporttoamosaicofsupport, acquiring and generating multiple sources of revenue.
