ABSTRACT

Test administration covers all the actions that are employed to deliver the testing results. This includes identifying the test needs, preparing for those tests, executing the tests and fault recording, and tracking any necessary corrective actions. The testing organization can plan for both the short term and the long term. The testing organization has a responsibility to measure critical performance indices to determine if they are improving or degrading as a team. The testing process should be defined long before the actual testing starts. Understanding the scope of what is to be tested, prioritizing the risky areas, and planning how to achieve a level of confidence that is acceptable takes time. Fault seeding is deliberately and randomly placing defects within the product before the testing and verification activities. The test team should be keeping metrics regarding the testing process, whether hardware or software.
