ABSTRACT

One of the most important and more common areas of concern for the occupational safety and health professional is noise and noise exposure. This chapter is dedicated to providing the examination candidate and the experienced professional with a basic understanding of the requirements of Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) hearing conservation program, along with how to correctly use the equations to determine potential noise exposures. Every equation provided on the Certied Safety Professional (CSP) examination reference sheet will be discussed in detail, and example problems for each will be provided.
