ABSTRACT
It is not enough that a safety professional just know the regulatory requirements regarding PPE. Today’s safety professional must have an in-depth knowledge of the uses and limitations of a varied array of PPE. In this chapter, we will look at hard hats, safety glasses and goggles, safety shoes and boots, gloves, fall protection and fall arrest systems, respirators, and other types of personal protective devices. The general industry standards for PPE are outlined in 29 CFR 1910.132-138.
