Synonym: dithiocarbonic anhydride; formula: CS2; MW 76.13; CAS [7515-0]; used in the manufacture of rayon and soil disinfectants and used as a solvent; colorless liquid with a strong foul odor; boils at 46.5°C; freezes at −111.6°C; density 1.263 g/mL at 20°C; slightly soluble in water (0.22% at 20°C); miscible with alcohol, ether, benzene, and chloroform; highly toxic and ammable (Patnaik, 2007).
