ABSTRACT
Synonyms: monochloroacetic acid, chloroethanoic acid; formula ClCH2COOH; MW 94.50; CAS [79-11-8]; used as a herbicide and in the manufacture of dyes; colorless or white crystals; occurring in three allotropic modi cations: α, β, and γ; melts between 55°C and 63°C; boils at 189°C; very soluble in water; moderately soluble in alcohol, benzene, ether, and chloroform.
