ABSTRACT

In recent years, functional organic materials including liquid crystals (LCs) and organic semiconductors have been extensively studied for applications in displays [1-7], electronic and optical devices [8-12], and biomedical sensors [13,14]. In developing organic-based devices, it is very important to manipulate the molecular order in a thin film structure and to pattern the film for fabricating an array of active regions such as pixels and thin-film transistors that can be addressed in an electrical or optical control scheme.
