ABSTRACT
The two orthogonal horizontal components and the vertical component of the ground motion produced at a site by an earthquake provide the characterisation of the shaking.
The ground motion representation for structural design may be one of the following:
(i) Time histories (ii) Power spectral density
(iii) Response spectra.
