ABSTRACT

The dynamic behavior of a beam subject to moving loads has been extensively studied. The structural configuration can be categorized as single-span or multi-span uniform or non-uniform beam. Many of these reports are found in the monograph of Fryba (1972) and most of them are on a uniform, single span, simply supported beam. This chapter presents the dynamic analysis of a multi-span continuous beam subject

to moving loads. Three methods of analysis are introduced in Section 2.2: The Exact Solution Method, the Assumed Mode Shape Method and the Precise Integration Method. Discussions on the effect of elastic supports on the analyzed results can be found in Section 2.3.
