ABSTRACT

In fact, in these two years, various solutions have been applied to different industrial characteristics. Essentially, alternative varnishing systems, such as water-based varnish for VOCs removal were adopted. Currently, the reliability of such products is not satisfactory, and they are also uneconomical in the chair sector. This is not due to their cost but to the higher costs of the work cycle combined with results that are poorer than those obtained using the basic products. Among the most efficient systems for VOCs’ removal, activated carbon systems and post-combustion technologies can guarantee a satisfactory level of removal. Often, their applications are limited because of high start-up and managements costs. The biological removal of VOCs contained in gas emissions from chair varnishing is a viable alternative.
