ABSTRACT
Intelligent plant design significantly increases the rate of degradation of VOCs, pollutants and odours. New intelligent sensors allow a look inside the “black box” biofilter.
The results of intensive research in conjunction with extensive operational experience have revolutionized biofilter technology in recent years. The increasing knowledge and understanding of the backgrounds of biodegradation, mass transfer and flow processes in the filter system now allow the use of the biofilters even on fields of applications that were previously reserved to chemical or thermal processes.
