ABSTRACT
Martin Gardner called Sam Loyd “America’s Greatest Puzzlist.” And Loyd is famous for the numerous wonderful puzzles that he invented, such as the Trick Mules (Figure 1, left), Get Off the Earth Puzzle Mystery (Figure 1, center), and the thousands of delightful puzzles included in his Cyclopedia (Figure 1, right) as well as the engaging stories he used to pose his puzzles.
