ABSTRACT
Henry O. Pollak is Director of the Mathematics and Statistics Research Center of Bell Laboratories. He is responsible for research on the mathematics of physics and networks, communication theory, discrete systems, statistics and data analysis. As Director, he administers a remarkable group of highly skilled mathematicians who not only create beautiful mathematics but who are remarkably adept at drawing inspiration from and linking mathematics to real-world applications.
