ABSTRACT
Color is a purely psychological phenomenon; that is to say, without a human observer there could be no color. Though perceptual in nature, that does not mean that color cannot be well measured, quantified, and communicated. Colorimetry is the science of color measurement and description. To measure color, we must take into account the physical properties of the environment including material and light sources, as well as the physiological properties of the human visual system.
