ABSTRACT

In Chapters 1 through 5, we reviewed the foundational concepts of Lean: Value and Value Stream Management, Standard Work, Flow, Level Pull, and Visual Management. When put into practice, these concepts fundamentally change how work is performed, how it flows, and how it is managed. In addition, a number of Lean tools can be applied in office and service environments to further improve performance, or sustain the gains you have realized. These tools should be applied in support of the Lean key concepts we have already covered, not in place of them.
