ABSTRACT

Forensic personnel work in environments posing serious risks to personal health and safety. In addition to the ever-present issue of infectious diseases, emergency workers and forensic personnel are faced with threats to their personal health and safety from patients and others at the incident location. Numerous environmental dangers may also be present. Altitude, weather conditions, released toxins, and caustic and explosive materials pose added hazards, o¦en not recognized because of initial concerns about the victim(s).
