ABSTRACT

The topic of this book is display and interface design or, in more conventional terms, human-computer interaction. Given its popularity and the fact that it impacts the majority of us on a daily basis, it is not surprising that many books have been written on the subject. A search on Amazon.com™ for the term “human-computer interaction” con¤rms this intuition, since over 10,000 books are identi¤ed. Given this number, even those who are not inherently skeptical may be inclined to ask a simple question: “Do we really need yet another one?” Since we have taken the time and effort to write this book, our answer is obviously “yes.”
