ABSTRACT
In this book, we consider two types of dose finding strategies using the continual reassessment method (CRM): a one-stage design that necessitates the use of Bayesian CRM (Section 3.2) and a two-stage design (Section 3.3). This chapter outlines the basic CRM approach and introduces the necessary notation for further development in the later chapters. Section 3.4 presents some simulation outputs of the CRM to illustrate how the method may operate in practice. Section 3.5 reviews some common modifications of the CRM. Section 3.6 gives key references in the CRM literature.
