ABSTRACT

Dissimilarity measures, or distances, play an important role in data clustering as most clustering algorithms depend on certain distance measures (Jain and Dubes, 1988; Anderberg, 1973). As a result, various distance measures have been proposed and discussed in the literature of cluster analysis (Sokal and Sneath, 1973; Anderberg, 1973; Jain and Dubes, 1988; Legendre and Legendre, 1983; Gordon, 1999; Everitt et al., 2001).
