ABSTRACT

Arcades and home consoles were not the only possible ways people could experience video games. Among the first to realize the appeal of a “personal computer” were Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak who, after short stints at Atari and HP, respectively, started Apple Computer.23 Apple’s first product, the Apple I, was showcased at the Homebrew Computer Club in Palo Alto, California, in July 1976 and sold for $666.66 (about $2,500 adjusted for inflation as of 2009). It was just an assembled circuit board that hobbyists used to build their own system by adding casing, a power supply, a keyboard, and a monitor.
