ABSTRACT

This chapter covers the principle of hydrologic calculations as they relate to storm water management. Discussed in this chapter are those elements of the hydrologic cycle which affect rainfall-runoff relation. These include the precipitation process, vegetal interception, surface retention, and in•ltration. Also discussed in this chapter are runoff calculation methods and their limitations. Ample examples and case studies are included in the chapter to illustrate proper application of hydrologic methods.
