ABSTRACT
Brucellosis is a (re-)emerging disease in man and animals and the most common bacterial zoonosis worldwide.1,2 Although many countries successfully established programs for eradication and control in animals, about 500,000 human cases are annually reported, mainly from endemic regions, including the Mediterranean Basin, the Arabian Peninsula, the Middle East, North Africa, Asia, Central America, and South America.
