ABSTRACT

Bacterial members belonging to the family of Enterobacteriaceae continue to play an important role as causes of healthcare-associated infections.1-3 Several new members of the family Enterobacteriaceae have been described over the past 30 years; however, most of these members constitute rare causes of human infections.4 Despite the progress in bacterial taxonomy, unidentiŠed bacterial strains are present in reference laboratories; these are often kept in a collection.
