ABSTRACT

Broadly de£ned, task analysis refers to the activities associated with systematically describing and analyzing the tasks performed by humans to achieve one or more goals of a task. It is probably the most commonly used analytic method in the £eld of human factors: 92% of respondents in a recent survey of human factors professionals (Stone and Derby 2009) indicated that task analysis was important for their work. Task analysis may be the oldest technique in human factors, having been developed and applied for over 100 years.
