ABSTRACT

The issue of scoring audits can create a dividing line of opinions within an organization. Some believe that audits should not be scored while others believe they should not be scored. Those who believe that audits should not be scored believe that ranking may prove to be harmful, and that a simple list of ˜ndings should be generated that the facility would need to address. Those who believe audits should be scored might say that the score is a critical component of accountability in that it indicates how well or poorly the facility is performing. The answer to this question is not simple. There are variables that should be considered when determining if an audit should or should not be scored.
