ABSTRACT

Intracranial EEG (icEEG) acquisition has evolved considerably over the past –ve decades. This chapter presents an exposition of current icEEG acquisition methodology. The chapter’s focus is on icEEG acquisition rather than EEG acquisition as the former presents a signi–cant challenge and allows more in-depth exposition of methods, and the latter is covered in standard EEG textbooks. We proceed by considering each of the components of a contemporary icEEG acquisition system from intracranial electrodes, through signal conditioning, sampling, storage, and display. This is followed by a brief discussion of some other aspects of an icEEG acquisition system that are separate from this data path and conclusions.
