ABSTRACT

We know it’s inevitable-there will always be those failures in our systems, ™res, earthquakes, ¬oods, or some natural or manmade disaster that causes our systems to become unavailable. We have to consider what we do and how we respond. žis means business continuity planning. žere are several things to consider: the severity of the situation, safety, essential services availability, building, people, and emergency services. Most of the time the situation is not severe. However, in the event of regional disasters such as Hurricane Katrina when the situation is extremely severe and wide scale-when there are no essential services such as electricity, water, telephone, Internetsafety is the primary concern. People’s priorities shift from their job to survival and concerns for their family.
