ABSTRACT
During the last decades, the subject of lattice point theory has not been overly popular in the mathematical community. At universities, its teaching has been usually oriented towards the work of the first half of the last century. In research, the diversification of mathematical disciplines in the second half of the last century resulting into a heterogenity of knowledge has brought increasingly specialized lattice point results in different fields, mostly in applications. All in all, the situation today shows somehow a loss of interest in the core of the lattice point theory, and only a few monographs (for example, F. Fricker [1982], E. Hlawka et al. [1991], E. Kra¨tzel [1988], M.N. Huxley [1996]) exist for consolidation.
