ABSTRACT

Tolerance analysis is a global term that includes two subcategories: ¢rst, it describes the methods used to determine the meaning of individual tolerancing speci¢cations; second, it is the process of determining the cumulative variation possible between two or more features. The second part of the de¢nition is commonly called a tolerance stackup. Generally speaking, the terms tolerance analysis and tolerance stackup are used to describe the analysis of variation, even though some sources of variation are not strictly from tolerances.
