ABSTRACT

In January 2009, Chinese drywall became suspect of causing unpleasant odors and possibly electrical problems in Florida homes. Residents were complaining of health problems and declared their homes unlivable. Builders were accused of shoddy construction. Homeowners were on the warpath claiming foul play. The Florida Department of Health stated that “the levels of emissions from the drywall pose no immediate health threat.” Environmental consultants also stated that there were “no health threats.”
