ABSTRACT

Unintentional weight loss can be caused by a number of disorders. Several of them are treatable and therefore reversible (Rabinovitz 1986). There remains a long list of incurable diseases that are chronically progressive and during the natural trajectory lose their therapeutic options. Among those diseases are advanced cancer, HIV infection with multi-drug-resistant strains, chronic obstructive lung disease, congestive heart failure, neurologic disorders and others.
