2 Benchmark Problems 1: Introduction

For the qualitative characterization of time decomposition methods, we introduce some benchmark problems.

We have chosen model problems in which the exact solutions are known, so that we can directly analyze the exact sizes of errors. Further, it is simple to compute and compare the convergence rates of the underlying schemes.
