ABSTRACT

Safety professionals should be aware that although the issues of the payment of wages and the hours worked can appear simplistic from afar, the myriad laws and regulations involved in the spectrum of issues having to do with wages and hours worked are very complex. Safety professionals are usually not directly involved in the day-to-day management of the wages of employees, hours worked, and related issues; however, it is important that safety professionals possess a ™rm grasp of the requirements of each of the various laws and regulations impacting this area in order to avoid the potential of costly errors in the areas where these laws and regulations may impact the safety function.
