ABSTRACT
A uni˜ed treatment of the principles of linear acoustics must begin with the well-known phenomenon of single-frequency acoustics. A second essential topic is random linear acoustics, a relatively new ˜eld, which is given a tutorial treatment later in this book. The objective is to present the elementary principles of linear acoustics and then to use straightforward mathematical development to describe some advanced concepts.
