ABSTRACT
To provide a broad view of coordinate measuring system (CMS) capabilities, 12 case studies have been selected from six countries, involving several types of CMSs from seven manufacturers. These case studies, with companies and authors mentioned, range from the most typical (Sections 16.2 and 16.5) to those being used for research and gage calibration (Sections 16.9 to 16.12). Categories discussed include systems for checking large parts (Sections 16.3 and 16.4), medical applications (Section 16.8) and CMS with hybrid and optical probing (Sections 16.1 and 16.7) and computed tomography (Section 16.6).
