ABSTRACT

Ideally, mediation revolves around understanding and sharing emotions and knowledge, both of which grow from and are a re—ection of social experience. Emotions and knowledge are shared through communication, which is the very heart of con—ict resolution and must be treated with the utmost respect. Just as dishonest or careless communication tells much about the people we are listening to, so does good communication. Good communication means respect for both listener and speaker because one must œrst listen to understand and then speak to be understood.
