Some observers will argue about the nature of the speciŽc equipment used for clari-Žcation, for example, whether or not there was actual contact of process water with the gas in the separation and capture of the toxic impurities. This is a moot question in most cases, for regardless of contact or noncontact, the objective was to capture and separate (Table 5.1) the gas impurities.
