ABSTRACT

Distillers grains is the second largest processed feed ingredient in the United States, at an estimated 2010 production of 35 million tons (MT), with 9 MT going to exports (personal communication, Charles Staff, Distillers Grain Technology Council, Louisville, KY). As a feed ingredient, distillers grains are typically analyzed in laboratories for one of three purposes. This chapter is divided into three sections, accordingly: (1) for quality standards for trading purposes; (2) to determine nutrients for inclusion in livestock feeds; and (3) to determine contaminants that may limit inclusion in livestock feeds.
