ABSTRACT

Historically distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS) has primarily been fed to beef, dairy, swine, and poultry animals (Chapters 12 through 15). It also appears to be a viable ingredient for aquafeeds (Chapter 16). It should be appropriate as a feed ingredient for other animals as well. There have only been a few published studies to date, however, on the ef„cacy of multispecies feeding of DDGS (or other ethanol coproducts). These limited reports include sheep and companion animals (but only horses and dogs). So in terms of conclusive feeding recommendations for these animals, there are still many unknowns. No book on DDGS would be complete without at least a brief overview of this information.
