The Strategic Approach to International Chemicals Management (SAICM)* is a global policy framework which supports the achievement of the goal agreed in 2002 at the World Summit on Sustainable Development of ensuring that, by 2020, chemicals are produced and used in ways that minimize signižcant adverse impacts on the environment and human health. SAICM was adopted in February 2006 in Dubai by the International Conference on Chemicals Management (ICCM) at its žrst session and comprises the Dubai Declaration on International Chemicals Management, the Overarching Policy Strategy (OPS), and the Global Plan of Action (GPA).
