In 2002, the International Council of Chemical Associations (ICCA) and its members joined with other stakeholders at the Johannesburg World Summit on Sus tainable Development (WSSD) to establish a goal that by the year 2020, chemicals are used and produced in ways that lead to the minimization of signižcant adverse effects on human health and the environment. ICCA’s decision re§ected industry’s long-term commitment to risk reduction and the safe management of chemicals.
