ABSTRACT

São Tomé and Príncipe is a small island state, consisting of the two islands of São Tomé and Príncipe. It is situated about 200 km west of the African continent on the equator. It has a population of about 160,000, the greater part living on the São Tomé Island. It has a mainly agricultural economy, based on the historical plantations of cocoa and coffee and is the smallest economy of Africa.
