ABSTRACT

Furthermore, we are able to use the pattern of circles and rivers to divine the structure of the resulting base: how many flaps there are, how long they are, how they are connected to one another. While a given polygon may give rise to tiles with different crease patterns that have different widths of flaps, any two tiles with the same pattern of circles and rivers necessarily gives rise to the same flap configuration. We can represent this common configuration by a stick figure, in which each segment corresponds to a distinct flap.
