ABSTRACT
Adaptive studies offer some major advantages compared to traditional trials but in return, they are more difcult to execute and in some cases cannot be used for certain types of trials. Just as dose-ranging trials, as discussed later, lend themselves to adaptive designs, there are some types of trials that are unsuitable for adaptive designs.
