ABSTRACT

It has been more than 10 years since the publication of the £rst edition of the book Melatonin in the Promotion of Health. The research performed since that time led to a great expansion of our knowledge about utilization of melatonin in treatment as well as prevention of various gastrointestinal (GIT) and hepatobiliary (HB) diseases. Because of the increase in the amount of new data, I have concentrated my review mostly on the literature published in the past 5 to 10 years.
