ABSTRACT

The discussion of sample size determination that started in Chapter 5 continues in this chapter. Two features will be changed. First of all, the discussion continues using the examples of informative hypotheses that were introduced in Chapter 2 in the context of the multivariate normal linear model. Using these examples, three situations are distinguished: the evaluation of one informative hypothesis in Sections 6.3 and 6.4, the evaluation of a series of informative components in Section 6.5, and the evaluation of competing hypotheses in Section 6.6. Each application contains the same steps as in Chapter 5:
